Ganesh Utsav 2023 – President’s Speech

I Acknowledge the traditional owners of the land upon with which we are hosting this event. I pay my respect to elders past, present, and emerging.

Referendum 2023 is upon us, and I would like to urge all eligible members to cast their vote on 14 October in person or by post, Your Answer Matters.

This year we are celebrating 18 years of Community Services. We deliberately did not plan for a one-off decorative event for celebrations as we believe in wise utilisation of community funds. We will be celebrating this theme throughout year by having a dedicated segment in each program we execute.

BRIMM is now an adult and must be bold, mature, confident in decision makings without any unreasonable influences and unconscious biases.

This year’s Lord Ganesh Festival was at peak, post-Covid pandemic. The membership applications and the event RSVPs have been flowing like never before. All community members deserve a big round of applause for your support towards BRIMM and Lord Ganesh Festival.

BRIMM is continuing with its annual events with a great enthusiasm.

BRIMM’s Apali Marathi Shala is the only Marathi Language School in operations since 2011-12. The School is continuing from Upper Mount Gravatt and Ashgrove locations. Please contact us if you are interested in participating in the school activities.

This year Blood Donation Drive has seen a great response, specially from younger generation.

New migrants to Brisbane and Students participation has been at peak. BRIMM urge all community members to help & support international students & families settling down in the new environment.

Our Transformational activities are continuing and this year we are looking forward to streamline Membership applications and Financial processes.

I herewith announce ‘Organ Donation Awareness Program’ as suggested by Sri. Dharmsheel Naik. Please come forward to contribute towards this program.

I have come across Community Unity discussion not only in BRIMM but also within the Multicultural community. The Management Committee is a reflection of collective consciousness of its members. Our mindset is fragile, relationships are fragile, and so as the communities are also fragile. The Committees must work with trusteeship behaviors and not the ownership behavior. Ownership always stays with the members of the Association.

BRIMM is inclusive and open to everyone who wish to contribute towards BRIMM’s wellbeing. Everyone is welcome on BRIMM’s terms & conditions. No institution can please 100% of its members as the decisions made by majority in a democratic manner. It is a responsibility of all community members to defend BRIMM’s interest, if someone claims community unity is at risk for some reason.

To defend BRIMM, we should ask – Have you opted for BRIMM’s membership? Have you attended BRIMM events? Have made any effort to put forward your opinions on a formal platform?

I am now pleased to announce ‘Maharashtrachi Hasyjatra’ event on 10 March 2024 in Brisbane.
